Air Tight Energy Code Solutions for Single-Family and Multifamily Builders
: Phil Crone, Executive Officer, Dallas Builders Association
Panelists: Ed Dryden, Building Official, City of Dallas; Montez Love, P.E., Love Engineering; James Rodriguez, Fox Energy Specialists; Sam Shallenberger, Morrison Supply; Keller Webster, KAW Construction

Rigorous air leakage requirements pose a challenge to complying with the 2015 energy code that was adopted statewide last year. Thanks to limitations imposed by both the code and state statute, multifamily builders in the Dallas-Fort Worth area found it particularly difficult, if not impossible, to meet the 3 Air Changes Per Hour threshold.

Thanks efforts from TAB, the Dallas BA, building performance specialists and emerging technology, significant relief is now available. This seminar will explore the trade-offs obtained for North Texas through the Council of Government and the Energy Systems Laboratory and discuss best practices and important considerations for all builders and general contractors when it comes to complying with the newly adopted 2015 energy code.
